Case Study 6

An international manufacturing conglomerate wanted an outside perspective on some of their Quality Assurance philosophies, policies, practices and methodologies. They were particularly interested in their software testing processes, as they’d experienced more problems, bugs, and user frustration than expected. Putnam/Travers created a five person consulting team with diverse software and process testing experience with an equally diverse range of testing strategy beliefs. For six months the group observed, tested, and stress tested the majority of softwares associated with the client department and found that a particularly important and central software was inappropriate for the task it was handling, and unable to work in tandem with other softwares and processes within the department. We then reduced the consulting team to 3 consultants and conducted a vendor selection program, which also included testing, and ultimately licensed and implemented the best software solution for the task. Two of our three consultants now work full time for this client.
